YEAR 4 COMMITTEE MEMBER WEEKEND DUTIES

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! THE STEPS TO RECOVERY WEEKEND IS HERE!!!! That means that we’ve gone from getting ready to getting it done.  Now we've come to the end of the road!

The first thing to remember is that the Registration clearly say 4:00 P.M., and even though this is a program based on following instructions, this wonderful Group Of Drunks, will take that as a suggestion and about 1/3 of them will show up by 2pm. That’s okay, because love and tolerance is our code. That means they will have to love us and tolerate us starting registration at 4pm.

Everyone will have an opinion about everything. Some of our brothers in recovery will find it necessary to share those opinions, constructive or not. Feelings are not facts! To Thine Own Self Be True!!!

FRIDAY:

The first thing to do is pack your car. Since you don’t have box after box of literature and “archives”, that means clothes, snacks, and TUMS…we gonna eat good!!!  You should also bring the registration information, sleep chart, check-in check list, name tags (presuming you’re the name tag guy). A nice breakfast with the guys before you head up the road is encouraged! (Are you seeing the theme here?)

-ARRIVAL: Plan to arrive on Friday around noon to 1pm. If for some reason this is not completely possible due to work/life/whatever obligations, let the committee know. We will figure it out together.

- SET UP: Once you arrive on Friday your job is to set up the AUDITORIUM.   But first, COFFEE.   This is a great opportunity to bring along a sponsee to get active with service work!!!!   If your sponsee doesn't know how to make coffee in a percolator that's on you!  You can get cream/sugar/cups from the kitchen staff.   Then, you're the helping hand to the Year 1 guy in the AUDITORIUM. He needs the help. I promise.    When you're done, come on back to registration to give a hand.

That's it. The rest of the guys have the MC duties for the weekend. Be a helping hand where you can, but this is the time to "hand it over".    You've done so much for this retreat over the past 4 years (maybe 5 if you're one of the lucky ones). The guys here appreciate it more than you can imagine.    You've been so busy the past few years herding the cats that you have missed a lot of the groups. Don't miss them this year. Go sit down, listen and share your experience strength and hope with another alcoholic.  It's a great reminder of why you've put all those hours into making this thing happen.

Sunday

Help with the tear down. Take the new guy over to settle the tab. Schedule the "annual meeting" some time in March.   (You already know I'm suggesting breakfast, and a reminder 1-2 days ahead of time)

DRIFTWOOD, BABY!!!

Take a rest, you’ve earned it!!!! And THANK YOU!!! This would not be possible for 150+ attendees to spend a weekend growing spiritually without all that you have done!!!
